The NCI Cohort Consortium is an extramural–intramural partnership within NCI’s Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences that combines more than 50 prospective cohort studies from around the world with more than seven million participants. alright heres my story….i lost about 55 pounds an gained like a half inch back…dr. oz says if u lose 30 pounds u can gain an inch back…well maybe maybe not….but i think it needs to be worded diff….more like if u burn all the fat off ur body ur gain that much…i lost 55 pounds an weight around 190 but i still have a lot of fat on my body an still have about an inch left under my fat….when i first started working out I did a lot of cardio and little weight training an lost a lot of muscle weight as well…u can also lose weight by not eating and doin drugs…so if you burn 30 pounds of fat and tighten your body up u will def. see a difference…how much? who knows but anything is better than nothing….

thanks for “cautioning” re BMI. I’m fit, relatively strong, but not at all muscle bound. Im 49 5’9 and 195lbs. my BMI is border overweight/obese. its absurd, though thankfully I measure my health by response to exercise, resting pulse etc. I would advise not interpreting BMI at all as a measure of health just because it can be so misleading. The age performance goals on this site are helpful yet also require some consideration before you grade yourself. My son runs competitive cross country at U of I champaign. I just entered his results and he’s at about 80%. keep in mind these calcs are compared to the fastest times ever run in the world. Its not a bad measure, just beware that you could be in the top 1% of runners in your age category and score an 80% on this scale, as my son is.

Exercise isn’t the only stressor that can produce excess cortisol. A stressful personal or professional life can also make your body produce too much of this hormone. When you stop exercising, your body stops producing cortisol; however, it may not be quite as easy to turn off the mental stressors going on in your life. Make sure you’re keeping your mental and emotional health in check in addition to your physical health. You should strive for total-body wellness.
