Not only are dryer sheets full of chemicals that get released into the air, residue from these chemicals are left on your clothes, which then come in contact with your skin. Thankfully, dryer sheets are one of the easiest laundry products to make yourself. Start by placing cut up fabric squares in a container with a tight seal, such as a mason jar. Pour 1 cup of vinegar and, if desired, 8-10 drops of your favorite essential oil over the fabric squares, then seal and shake. Add 3-4 squares with each dryer load to give laundry a natural fabric-softening boost while keeping static at bay.
A few years back, Harvard conducted a study to reiterate what many in the psych professionals already know – Americans are addicted to anti-depression meds. We (though not myself) pop Prozac, Celexa, Effexor, Paxil, and Zoloft pills like they are candy in an attempt to boost mood and feel better. The increase in sales of anti-depressants is up a startling 400% . This pill-popping became the norm, even though clinical studies suggest there are numerous natural remedies that can help us feel better, without the pricey and life altering side-effects that many of these drugs can cause.
Fish and Shell Fish – Vitamin D, Omega 3, Zinc, Selenium, B12, CoQ10
Fish and shell fish (muscles, clams, etc) are some of the most nutrient dense foods we can eat. Fish provides an abundance of essential fatty acids, vitamin D, zinc, B 12 , selenium and CoQ10. The catch is that most of these nutrients are heat sensitive so remember this while you are preparing these foods. If you are concerned about the water source of your fish, eat fish from cold waters or you can include a purified cod liver oil supplement into your diet. Try to avoid farmed fish as they will not have the high amounts of omega 3 and have been fed antibiotics.
